TRUE FORM CONSTRUCTION

Your Renovation Is Protected. For Five Years, In Writing.

Most Toronto contractors offer a 1-year warranty — if they offer anything at all. True Form Construction backs every project with a full 5-Year Workmanship Warranty, documented in your contract and honoured without argument.

5-Year Workmanship Warranty

Your investment is protected by our comprehensive warranty and full liability insurance.

Why Our Warranty Exists

A renovation is one of the largest investments you will make in your home. The industry standard is a one-year labour warranty — and even that is rarely put in writing. We think that is not good enough.

At True Form Construction, the 5-Year Workmanship Warranty is not a marketing line. It is a contractual commitment, included in every project agreement, that obligates us — not just promises us — to fix workmanship defects at no cost to you for five full years from the date of substantial completion.

This warranty reflects something simple: if we build it, we stand behind it.

What the Warranty Covers

Our workmanship warranty applies to all residential renovation projects completed by True Form Construction in the Greater Toronto Area, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, interior renovations, open-concept conversions, home additions, and condo renovations.

Structural Workmanship

Defects in framing, load-bearing alterations, beam and header installations, and any structural modifications performed by our team are covered for the full five-year term. If a structural element we built or modified causes a performance issue, we will assess and repair it at no charge.

Water Infiltration & Moisture Defects

Leaks or water infiltration caused by deficiencies in our workmanship — including improper installation of waterproofing membranes, shower systems, window and door flashing, roofing tie-ins, or exterior assemblies — are covered for five years. This includes our explicit guarantee against basement and shower leaks tied to our installation work.

Mechanical Systems Installation

Defects resulting from incorrect installation of plumbing, electrical, or HVAC systems performed by our licensed trades are covered under warranty. This does not extend to manufacturer defects in equipment — those are covered by the respective manufacturer warranties we transfer to you at project handoff.

Interior Finishes & Installations

Workmanship defects in drywall, paint, flooring, tile, trim, cabinetry installation, millwork, and other interior finishes are covered. This includes tile delamination, grout failure from improper installation, premature paint adhesion failure, and incorrectly fastened trim or millwork.

Structural Moisture & Drainage

Defects in drainage grading, exterior waterproofing, or weeping tile installations performed by our team that result in moisture intrusion into the structure are covered for the full five-year term.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

Being transparent about exclusions protects you from misunderstandings. The following are not covered under our workmanship warranty:

Normal Wear and Tear

All building materials and finishes have a natural lifespan. Fading, minor surface scuffs, gradual caulking shrinkage in expansion joints, and similar effects of daily use are not covered.

Homeowner-Supplied Materials or Labour

If you supplied materials, fixtures, or engaged separate trades to perform any portion of the work, True Form’s warranty does not extend to those components or any defects resulting from their installation.

Third-Party or Post-Completion Modifications

Any work performed by other contractors, homeowners, or third parties after project completion that affects or damages our work voids warranty coverage on the affected area.

Damage from Misuse, Neglect, or Improper Maintenance

Damage resulting from failure to maintain the property — including persistent water exposure, improper cleaning products on surfaces, or failure to address obvious leaks promptly — is not covered.

Acts of God and External Forces

Damage caused by flooding from municipal systems, extreme weather events, seismic activity, or other events outside our control is not covered.

Manufacturer Defects in Supplied Products

Defects in appliances, fixtures, windows, doors, or other manufactured products are the responsibility of the respective manufacturer. We will provide all warranty documentation and assist you in filing manufacturer claims.

Cosmetic Items Not Noted at Final Walkthrough

Minor cosmetic items that are visible and were not noted on the final deficiency list at the time of project handoff are not covered under warranty. This is why our final walkthrough is thorough — we document everything together before closing out.

How to File a Warranty Claim

Filing a claim with True Form Construction is straightforward. We maintain complete project files — contracts, permits, inspection sign-offs, and scope documents — for every project, which allows us to assess claims accurately and quickly.

Step 1 — Document the Issue

Take clear photographs of the defect (minimum 3 photos). Note the date you first observed the problem.

Step 2 — Submit Your Claim by Email

Email your claim to warranty@trueformtest.xyz with the following information:

  • Your name and property address
  • Date of substantial completion (found on your contract)
  • Date the issue was first observed
  • Full written description of the defect
  • Photos of the issue (minimum 3)
  • Reference to the scope item you believe is affected

Step 3 — Receive Acknowledgement

You will receive written acknowledgement within 2 business days of your submission.

Step 4 — Site Assessment

A True Form representative will visit the property within 10 business days of your claim submission to inspect the reported defect. Emergency situations — such as active leaks causing ongoing damage — will be prioritized and responded to within 24 hours.

Step 5 — Repair or Resolution

If the defect is confirmed as covered under warranty, we will schedule and complete the repair at no cost to you. You will receive written confirmation of the completed repair for your records.

Keep Your Documents. Retain your original contract, scope of work, permit records, and any warranty correspondence in a secure place. These documents support the claims process and protect your investment.

Manufacturer Warranties — What We Hand Off to You

In addition to our workmanship warranty, every True Form project comes with a package of applicable manufacturer warranties for products installed during your renovation. These typically include:

  • Cabinet manufacturer warranties (often 5 years to lifetime)
  • Countertop material warranties
  • Window and door warranties (typically 5–10 years)
  • Plumbing fixture warranties (typically 1–5 years, brand dependent)
  • Flooring manufacturer warranties
  • Appliance manufacturer warranties

We organize these documents and provide them to you at project handoff. If a manufacturer warranty claim arises, we will provide supporting installation documentation and assist you in initiating the claim with the manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my home?

The 5-Year Workmanship Warranty is tied to the property and the work performed. If you sell your home during the warranty period, we recommend disclosing the warranty to the buyer — it can be a meaningful selling point. Contact us to discuss transferability on a project-specific basis.

What if a problem appears in Year 4 — is it still covered?

Yes. The warranty runs for five full years from the date of substantial completion. A defect reported in Year 4 is treated identically to one reported in Year 1, provided it falls within the covered categories.

What counts as substantial completion?

Substantial completion is the date defined in your contract when the project is sufficiently complete for its intended use and has received final municipal inspection sign-off. This date is documented in writing and is the start date of your 5-year warranty term.

What if I am not sure whether my issue is covered?

Submit a claim. We would rather review a claim and determine it is not covered than have you hesitate and let a covered defect worsen. There is no cost to submit.

Does the warranty cover work done by subcontractors True Form hired?

Yes. We take full responsibility for all work performed under our contracts, including work executed by our licensed trade partners. Your warranty is with True Form Construction, not with individual subcontractors.

What happens if a warranty repair requires matching materials that are discontinued?

We make all reasonable efforts to match materials. Where an exact match is not possible, we will discuss options with you and agree on an appropriate solution before proceeding.

Is there a deductible or service fee to make a claim?

No. Covered warranty claims are repaired at zero cost to you, with no deductible or service charge.
